At Goosmann Law Firm, our partners bring more than legal knowledge to the table. They bring perspective shaped by years of experience helping clients work through decisions where the path forward is not always obvious.

For Partner Matt M. Munderloh, that means helping individuals, businesses, fiduciaries, and municipalities navigate complex legal matters with thoughtful strategy, clarity, and a practical understanding of what is at stake.

Experience Across the Courtroom, Business, and Government

Matt has more than two decades of experience representing clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Licensed in Nebraska and Illinois, his practice spans complex civil and criminal litigation, business and real estate matters, estate and trust administration and disputes, municipal law, and select federal civil rights and white-collar defense matters.

That range of experience gives Matt a broad perspective when approaching a legal challenge. A dispute may involve more than what happens in the courtroom. A real estate matter can raise questions about local government and land use. An estate issue may develop into fiduciary litigation. A business decision can carry regulatory, financial, and litigation risks at the same time.

Matt works to understand those overlapping considerations and help clients determine a practical path forward.

Counsel for Nebraska Communities

An important part of Matt’s practice is his work with municipalities. He serves as general municipal counsel for multiple cities and villages throughout Nebraska, advising elected officials and local leaders on governance, land use, ordinances, public policy, and other issues affecting their communities.

Serving as municipal counsel requires more than knowing the law. Local leaders must make decisions that work in practice, withstand scrutiny, and serve their communities over the long term. Matt’s experience with municipal operations helps him bring both legal and practical considerations to those conversations.

Finding Clarity in Complex Problems

Matt’s approach to practicing law is grounded in problem-solving.

He finds purpose in helping people work through difficult problems in a way that is intellectually challenging, strategic, and productive. Whether he is advising a city council, representing a business in litigation, or assisting a family with an estate matter, his goal is to bring clarity and precision to complicated situations.

That approach fits naturally with Goosmann Law Firm’s focus on providing Strategic Counsel Where It Counts when important decisions in business and life are on the line.

A Commitment to the Legal Profession

Matt’s work extends beyond representing his clients. He has remained actively involved in the legal profession and in efforts to strengthen public understanding of the legal system.

In 2022, the Nebraska State Bar Association presented Matt with the George H. Turner Award, recognizing his efforts to further public understanding of the legal system and promote confidence in the legal profession.

He is also a Fellow of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. Matt has served the profession through organizations and roles including the Nebraska State Bar Association House of Delegates, the Federal Practice Committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Nebraska Court of Appeals.

Matt earned his Juris Doctor, with High Distinction, from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers and served as Executive Editor of the Nebraska Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree in International Studies, Summa Cum Laude, from Creighton University.
