William focuses his practice on business and intellectual property litigation. He represents businesses, CEOs, owners, executives, and insurers in complex disputes involving confidential information, proprietary processes, business relationships, and other valuable interests.
When innovative ideas, business strategies, or sensitive information are compromised, the consequences can extend well beyond a single legal issue. These disputes may affect a company’s competitive position, reputation, operations, and plans for the future. William works with clients to understand the broader business impact, investigate what happened, and develop a litigation strategy designed around what matters most to them.
His investigative mindset began well before he entered the legal profession. William spent seven years working in the security industry, where his responsibilities included investigating consumer complaints, responding to government agencies and attorneys, assisting with settlements, managing legal support, and reporting to executive leadership. That experience taught him how to examine complicated facts, identify important details, and remain focused during contentious situations.
Drawn to the legal profession by his interest in problem-solving and investigation, William earned his Juris Doctor summa cum laude from Creighton University School of Law. He received the school’s Highest Triennial Average Award, participated on the Trial Team, and made the Dean’s Honor Roll every semester.
Today, William brings that same discipline and determination to the courtroom. He is comfortable navigating conflict and breaking complicated legal and business issues into clear, practical strategies. Licensed in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, William serves clients across the region and is also fluent in Spanish.
As Sioux City Managing Partner, William helps lead the office while continuing to advocate for clients in high-stakes matters. His approach reflects the qualities central to strong legal representation: thorough preparation, sound judgment, direct communication, and an understanding that every dispute affects real people and businesses.
William has been recognized as a Great Plains Rising Star by Super Lawyers and has been included in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America since 2023. Most recently, he was recognized in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for Intellectual Property.
Outside of his practice, William enjoys traveling, camping, cycling, playing board games, and spending time with his wife and two daughters. An Eagle Scout and former missionary in Costa Rica, he is also active in his church and sings bass in the choir.
